Octoberfest is starting:)

God dag Denmark :)

New month, new week and new start :)

I’ve been working whole weekend to make some extra money. I don’t remember if I ever mention the place, but it is a nice bar in the city with a spectacular view on the Sydney’s downtown.

I still have my vacation this week but no more big travelling, because Peter is going on one special trip next month. Something that I have been dreaming about for many years :)

I am flying on 14th of November and coming back at 23rd. Going there with my close friends from Slovakia. They live in UK right now but we are always in touch and still the best people to travel with.

But the very first thing  I have to do for this week is to plan my future after Australia. Like me practical placement next semester.

Okay Guys, have a nice week, don’t forget to check my pictures from Blue Mountains or Sydney Olympic park! Just paste this link into your browser:

Back in business :)

Heeeey guys,

I am so sorry for being late but sometimes we just need time for ourselves…

Let’s start from the beginning. The race I was preparing for was one of the most exciting experience in my life. I was working Friday and Saturday night in the bar, then slept 4 hours and went to enjoy it. There were around 15 000 people there just for my run. Transportation in the city was closed and street were packed by the auditors. I was trying to do my best and the result is here:

http://results.au.eventdirector.net/View.asp?EventID=4015&Bib=36729

My target was set up around 43 min. Now I know it could be better, but when I consider all the conditions, I can’t blame myself…

Then the week after was very busy for me. Everything in your life is an experience.

I will start with my favourite:

Sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.

I had my birthday last week. These days are one of the most important experiences in my life. I broke up with my girlfriend and it gave me a chance to think about me very much, to find out who is the real Peter Ilko…

Sometimes you can do whatever you can, whatever, but everything will be different as you expect…

I bought the ticket for one week, valid for all the zones around Sydney and I am traveling every day somewhere because we have break at the school.

Here are some pictures and I will try to add some more this week:

Have fun, enjoy your life and work hard :)

Seeeeeee yaaaaa

Day D is coming :)

I went to pick up my event kit for Sunday’s run today. Weather is bad and I couldn’t do my training but hopefully tomorrow everything will be better. I am so excited and can’t wait to see the atmosphere. I have been constantly training for this race more then one month and now I have to do the very last step and that is to perform :)

School is okay, I have to handle one assignment for marketing audit next week but otherwise it should be fine. We supposed to have vacation after next week. Some classmates are going back at home to Germany or Bangladesh! Like when we are going from Denmark to Slovakia for the weekend :) There is still good weather on the another side of the world, but spring time is coming and that means summer time for us here :)

I will write more before and after the race!

See you all and have a good week!

Big News :)

Ola :)

Great to be back in business :)

Everything at school is going smoothly, I just finished our first assignment  this week with my group mates. It wasn’t that easy because our ideas were so different. Some things here are let’s say weird. We have a subject called marketing simulation, where we are simulating business online. Groups are competing against each other in a bike industry by producing and selling bikes. Every week U have to make some decision, regarding marketing, production, distribution and etc. Sounds pretty interesting, but all of us have to pay 60 dollars for that “fun” and if  we consider there is around 60 marketing students in our semester. Smells like a big business… U can learn many things, I do agree, but still real company is a real company, there is no doubt. Try to check it here:

http://www.smartsims.com/

I have already one job and was trying to get another very hard.  I have been on 2 job interviews this week. I will write something more maybe during the weekend, because this experience will stay with my until the rest of my life.

I didn’t mention before that I am training now. I do love running and found something to challenge myself little bit.

This is my program for 19th of September, if U have nothing to do just come and join me:)

Last time I was running on competition was this April in Slovakia on the National run in Bratislava (Slovakia is not next to Macedonia, like I have heard today), it was 12km. This one is 9km but in an amazing atmosphere with 15 000 people around, breath taking view from Harbour Bridge and only 4 days before my sweet sixteen birthday:) I hope it will be an unforgettable experience, just cross your fingers that day:)

Here is my training:

http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/racing/rws-4-week-10k-schedule-5-days-per-week/78.html

Like in marketing, I set up my goal somewhere around 43 minutes. It will depend on many things but still I have to perform! I promised myself to run marathon once and what if I will challenge Bo there one day :)

Okay, I have to go now, but try to add some more news ASAP!

Adios Amigos ;)

After one month…

It took forever but finally we post my blog at viauc. com and I can share my experience from here.

I was surprised, that only 2 people who are actually blogging now are me and my classmate Louisa! I would like to say HI to all my friends from Denmark this way!

It is very funny here, because for everybody here at Sydney Institute, Peter is an exchange student from Denmark, in other words they consider me as being a Danish :) I had at least 3 questions last couple of days from people asking about princess Mary. I had no idea she was born here in Australia.

Another very popular question is when people are interested in comparing the studies here “in a land down under” and up there in Scandinavia. If somebody will give me a chance to express it in two words, I will most probably say, “very different.”

I have no right to judge now, but I will make the conclusion at the end of my journey :) I want You to read my blog until the end:)

Everything here is very laid-back, except my life :) Always something new, but that is the reason why I came here. I have seen already many nice places around Sydney and I promise You will see some pictures soon.

I have to run now, but will be back very soon and explain something more about the things I am going through here!

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!!!

Hello from Sydney!

Heeey Everybody!

It has been my first week here in Australia and in conclusion first moment that I have some time to write about my journey here :)

Before I came and obtain the permit to enter Sydney, everything went wrong… I had problems with Visa and I got sick at home in Slovakia, because my decision was to visit my family and friends before I will leave them again for a longer time.

Everything is fixed like always :) But I should not be focused on my past, I have to look forward to my future and as we are saying in our marketing terminology, my half a year short-term object is to be successful at Sydney Institute and enjoy the time here!

To be an exchange student in Australia sounds pretty much interesting for everybody I will guess, but nothing is for free and trust me or not there are always some obstacles in my way :)

The first one was to find some accommodation immediately. I have been a lucky guy, since I was born :) , and contact my old friend whom I met on my other “mission” in the US two years ago. She helped me a lot and even moved out from her own apartment to live with boyfriend and let me to stay at her place with some other guys from “Czecho-slovakia :) “, who are already here for a couple of years. It’s a great help for me to be surrounded by such a good people! They have something that it is worthy more than anything else, information!

The way how I establish my life here is way more easier because of this fact. I had already seen a professional rugby league game with around 20 000 spectators, or visit many interesting places, such as WORLD PRESS PHOTO 2010 exhibition, which I will recommend to everybody who wants to think about this world little bit.

About the TAFE and Sydney Institute. I have been there just twice. Once just to register and second time for my first classes in Marketing. The registration was a half a day event with people from all around the world. Long process with many paper work, but they were nice and gave us some food and so many useful things and ideas for our studies.

I have my classes tomorrow and also Wednesday. I will see what these days will bring and after that  I will try to write something more, because some new delivery of  inputs for my blog will pop up in my mind :)

Have a nice week guys and enjoy the summer time because here the winter reminds me sometimes so much my one and only, lovely Denmark :)
